Product, fabric and fit

Choose the right style, understand the fabric and get the fit right.

What products does Debriefs sell?

Debriefs sells men's trunks and boxer briefs in single pairs, multipacks and monthly subscriptions. The trunks have a short 5 cm leg, while the boxer briefs have a longer 9 cm leg. The core size range runs from S to XXL, with current colours and availability shown on each product page.

What makes Debriefs underwear different?

Debriefs combines a lightweight, high-quality and durable blend of 94% genuine LENZING MicroModal and 6% elastane with a horizontal fly, 3D contoured pouch, four-way stretch, flat-lock seams and a label-free waistband designed not to roll. The underwear is made in Turkey by a GOTS-certified manufacturer and backed by a 52-wash guarantee covering fabric and waistband defects.

How does Debriefs compare with other men's underwear brands?

Debriefs differs from many mass-market and premium men's underwear options through the material and construction used in every pair. The lightweight yet durable fabric is a blend of 94% genuine LENZING MicroModal and 6% elastane, rather than cotton, polyester, bamboo viscose or standard TENCEL Modal. It is three times softer than cotton, breathable, moisture-wicking and made to retain its soft feel through repeated washing. Both styles include a horizontal fly, 3D contoured pouch, four-way stretch, flat-lock seams and a label-free waistband designed to keep its stretch and sit flat. The 5 cm trunks are designed to resist ride-up, while the 9 cm boxer briefs add thigh coverage designed to reduce chafing. Debriefs is made in Turkey by a GOTS-certified manufacturer and the fabric and waistband are backed by a 52-wash guarantee. Our men's underwear guide covers the wider market in more detail.

What are men's trunks?

Men's trunks are close-fitting underwear with a short, square-cut leg. Debriefs trunks have a 5 cm inseam, less thigh coverage than boxer briefs and a supportive fit through the pouch and waist. They work well under fitted trousers, jeans and shorts because there is less fabric down the leg.

What are boxer briefs?

Boxer briefs combine the close-fitting support of briefs with the thigh coverage of boxers. Debriefs boxer briefs have a 9 cm inseam, a close fit, a 3D contoured pouch and longer legs that cover the upper inner thigh. That extra coverage helps reduce rubbing, chafing, bunching and ride-up.

What is the difference between Debriefs trunks and boxer briefs?

The main difference is leg length. Debriefs trunks have a 5 cm inseam and less thigh coverage. Debriefs boxer briefs have a 9 cm inseam and cover more of the inner thigh. Both use the same MicroModal blend, horizontal fly, contoured pouch, flat-lock seams and no-roll waistband. See the full trunks versus boxer briefs guide.

How long are Debriefs trunks and boxer briefs?

Debriefs trunks have a short 5 cm inseam, while Debriefs boxer briefs have a longer 9 cm inseam. The shorter trunks sit higher on the thigh and use less fabric under fitted clothes. The longer boxer briefs cover more of the upper inner thigh to reduce rubbing and chafing during active days.

Should I choose trunks or boxer briefs?

Choose trunks if you prefer a shorter leg and less fabric under fitted clothes. Choose boxer briefs if you want more thigh coverage, your thighs rub, or you need underwear for active days. If you like both fits, you can mix the two styles when building a multipack. You can also take the Debriefs fit quiz for a personalised recommendation.

Which Debriefs style is best for chafing or larger thighs?

Debriefs boxer briefs are the better starting point for chafing or larger thighs. Their 9 cm leg covers the upper inner thigh and is designed to reduce skin-on-skin rubbing while staying in place. The breathable MicroModal fabric and flat-lock seams also help reduce the heat, moisture and rough stitching that can make chafing worse. Read our guide to preventing chafing.

Which Debriefs style works best under fitted trousers or shorts?

Debriefs trunks usually work best under fitted trousers, suits and shorts. The 5 cm leg sits high on the thigh, so there is less fabric to show beneath the hem or gather under slim clothing. You still get the same supportive pouch, horizontal fly and soft MicroModal blend used in the longer boxer briefs.

Does Debriefs underwear ride up or bunch?

Debriefs underwear is designed to stay in place without riding up or bunching. The trunks use a short square-cut leg and reinforced hem, while the boxer briefs use a longer 9 cm leg that grips below the widest part of the thigh. Choosing the right size and style gives the design the best chance to sit as intended.

Is Debriefs underwear good for hot weather and men who sweat?

Yes. Debriefs uses lightweight, breathable MicroModal that absorbs and releases moisture to help keep the skin drier. That makes both styles well suited to hot Australian weather and men who tend to sweat. Boxer briefs add thigh coverage for rubbing, while trunks use less leg fabric. See our breathable underwear fabric guide.

Is Debriefs underwear suitable for the gym, running, travel or long workdays?

Yes. The MicroModal blend has four-way stretch, manages moisture and moves with the body. Boxer briefs are usually the better choice for running, gym sessions, physical work and long travel days because the 9 cm legs cover the inner thighs. The shorter trunks suit lighter activity or days when you want less leg fabric. See our men's underwear for sport guide.

What is Debriefs underwear made from?

Debriefs trunks and boxer briefs are made from a 230 GSM blend of 94% genuine LENZING MicroModal and 6% elastane. The finished fabric feels lightweight against the skin while remaining high quality and durable. It is also soft, breathable and flexible, and the same material composition and fabric weight are used across both styles.

What is LENZING MicroModal, and is it natural or synthetic?

LENZING MicroModal is a fine, wood-based cellulosic fibre made from beech wood. It starts with a natural raw material, then the wood pulp is processed into a wearable fibre. That makes it a regenerated cellulose fibre rather than a conventional natural fibre such as cotton or a petroleum-based synthetic such as polyester. Read our MicroModal underwear guide.

Is MicroModal better than cotton for men's underwear?

MicroModal is a strong choice when softness, breathability and moisture management matter. The LENZING MicroModal used by Debriefs is three times softer than cotton and has a smoother feel against the skin. It absorbs and releases moisture instead of holding onto sweat like cotton can. It is also a more sustainable choice: producing the fibre uses up to 20 times less water than cotton, and the beech trees do not require the pesticides used in conventional cotton farming. Our cotton, bamboo and modal comparison explains the differences in more detail.

How does MicroModal compare with bamboo underwear?

Most bamboo underwear is made from bamboo viscose, while Debriefs uses genuine LENZING MicroModal made from beech wood. Both are wood-based cellulosic fabrics, but MicroModal has a finer, smoother feel, strong moisture regulation and has been tested as more durable than bamboo. Using genuine LENZING fibre also means its supply chain and production process can be tracked and verified, providing confidence that it is the more sustainable and environmentally responsible choice. Debriefs chose it for softness, breathability, durability and comfort through long days. Read more in our guide to bamboo underwear.

Is Debriefs MicroModal underwear breathable and moisture-wicking?

Yes. The MicroModal fabric used by Debriefs is breathable and moisture-wicking. Its fibre structure absorbs and releases moisture, which helps create a drier feel against the skin. The fabric is also lightweight, so it can manage heat without the heavy, damp feeling that often comes with thicker cotton underwear.

Does the Debriefs MicroModal blend stretch in four directions?

Yes. The finished MicroModal blend stretches in four directions, so the fabric can move across and along the body. This helps the underwear follow normal movement without feeling stiff. The blend is 94% LENZING MicroModal and 6% elastane, but the four-way stretch is a property of the finished fabric, not the elastane on its own.

What is a horizontal fly?

A horizontal fly is an opening that runs across the front of the underwear instead of vertically down it. Debriefs' fly gives access from above while the contoured pouch stays supportive around it. The design works for left-handed and right-handed wearers. Our horizontal fly guide shows how it works.

How does the Debriefs 3D contoured pouch fit?

The Debriefs 3D pouch follows the body's shape and provides room and support without flattening everything against the body. Its contoured construction works with the four-way stretch fabric, so it can hold a close fit while still allowing natural movement. The same pouch design is used in both trunks and boxer briefs.

Does the Debriefs waistband roll?

No. Debriefs uses a soft, label-free waistband designed to sit flat without rolling and hold its stretch through repeated wear and washing. The underwear also uses flat-lock stitching, which keeps the seams flatter against the skin than a bulky raised seam. The no-tag construction and flat seams reduce common sources of rubbing and irritation.

How do I choose the right Debriefs size?

Measure your waist and match it to the Debriefs size chart. Use the measurement rather than relying only on the size printed on another brand. If your waist falls between two Debriefs sizes, choose the larger size. The correct size should feel close and supportive without digging into the waist or thighs. You can also take the Debriefs fit quiz for a personalised recommendation.

How should I wash and dry Debriefs underwear?

Machine wash Debriefs in cold water and hang each pair to dry. Do not iron the underwear or wash it with fabric softener. Cold washing and air drying protect the MicroModal fibres, waistband and stretch fabric from unnecessary heat and chemical build-up. Follow the care instructions printed inside the garment if you are ever unsure.

Orders and discounts

Build a multipack, understand the price and check what is currently available.

How do Debriefs multipacks work?

Debriefs multipacks let you buy several pairs together at a lower per-pair price. You can choose a ready-made pack or build your own by adding individual pairs to your cart. The same quantity discount applies either way, and build-your-own discounts are added automatically. The current multipack options and prices are shown in the multipack collection.

Can I mix trunks, boxer briefs, colours and sizes in one order?

Yes. You can build a mixed order with trunks, boxer briefs, different colours and different sizes. Add each pair to the cart one at a time using the style, colour and size you want. This is useful for trying both styles, buying for more than one person or building a drawer with different options.

Are Debriefs bundle discounts applied automatically?

Yes. Eligible bundle discounts are applied automatically based on the number of qualifying pairs in your cart. You do not need a discount code. The cart shows the current discount and order total before checkout, so you can check the price before paying.

How much does Debriefs underwear cost?

Debriefs single pairs currently cost $36. Three-packs start at $99, six-packs start at $180, and build-your-own bundles of nine or more individual pairs cost $28 per pair. The nine-pair tier is not sold as a pre-made pack; add nine or more individual trunks or boxer briefs to the cart and the eligible discount is applied automatically. The monthly subscription costs $28 per pair. See the live men's underwear collection for current offers.

Which Debriefs colours and sizes are currently in stock?

Current colours and sizes are shown on each Debriefs product page. Select a colour and size to see whether that exact variant is available before adding it to your cart. Debriefs currently offers sizes S to XXL, while available colours can differ between trunks, boxer briefs, multipacks and subscriptions.

Returns and guarantees

Return eligibility, the First Pair Guarantee and the 52-wash guarantee.

What is the Debriefs returns policy?

Debriefs accepts eligible returns within 30 days of delivery. Ordinary returns must be unworn, unopened and still in their original packaging. Return shipping is free for eligible returns from Australia and New Zealand. Customers in other countries may still return eligible items, but there may be return shipping costs. Because underwear is a hygiene-sensitive product, any item that is clearly opened and returned as an ordinary return is ineligible for a refund or exchange and will be returned to the customer at their own expense. The separate First Pair Guarantee covers one worn pair from an eligible first order under its own conditions. Read the returns page before submitting a request.

How do I return or exchange Debriefs underwear?

Submit your request through the Debriefs returns page. You will need your order number, the type of request and details of what you need. The guarantee is non-transferable and cannot be combined with a normal return or exchange. Submit a request through the returns page.

What does the Debriefs 52-wash guarantee cover?

The Debriefs 52-wash guarantee covers defects in the fabric or waistband within 52 washes or 12 months. Covered examples include holes, tears, loose stitching and loss of waistband elasticity. Approved claims receive a replacement, subject to the full terms and a maximum of two pairs per customer in any 12-month period.

What is not covered by the 52-wash guarantee?

The 52-wash guarantee does not cover pilling, general wear and tear, improper use or improper care. Damage caused by washing against the care instructions is not a manufacturing defect. Claims are reviewed using the order details and photo evidence supplied by the customer.

Email orders@debriefs.com.au with your name, email address, order number, a description of the problem and clear photos of the defect. Debriefs reviews each request against the 52-wash guarantee terms. Warranty claims are limited to a maximum of two pairs per customer in any 12-month period.
